Parkinson's disease
Parkinson's disease is a disease caused by the destruction of neurons located in the substantia nigra of the brain stem that produce the
neurotransmitter dopamine. This leads to motor disorders.
Diagnostics
Diagnostic methods: examination by a specialist, MRI or PET-CT of the brain.
There are no specific methods for diagnosing Parkinson's disease.
If Parkinson's disease is suspected, differential diagnosis between this disease, Parkinsonism and secondary Parkinsonism is important.
Parkinsonism is characterized by symptoms of progressive supranuclear paralysis, multiple systemic atrophy, corticobasal degeneration,
dementia with Levi's corpuscles. Secondary parkinsonism includes medicinal parkinsonism, vascular parkinsonism. Its causes may be
hydrocephalus of normal pressure, brain tumors, poisoning with toxins.
Treatment
Medical treatment, physical therapy, surgical treatment (deep brain stimulation).
Cost of diagnostics and surgical treatment: 50.000.000 - 65.000.000 won

Lou Gehrig's Disease
Lou Gehrig's disease or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a rare neurodegenerative disease in which motor neurons of the brain and spinal
cord are affected.

There are no specific methods for diagnosing Lou Gehrig's disease. Electrophysiological examination, histological examination, examination
of cerebrospinal fluid, muscle tissue biopsy, radiography, MRI, electromyography, etc. are carried out.
Treatment
To date, the disease is incurable. As a symptomatic treatment, drug therapy, respiratory rehabilitation, etc. are carried out. To slow down
the progression, the drug "Riluzol" is used.
